NALB High School is a comprehensive onsite learning, non- public high school enrolling students in grades 9–12, ages 14 years old and older. The school will graduate approximately 300 seniors in the spring of 20221. NALB High School is registered with the Illinois State Board of Education as a non-public high school

Curriculum

NALB High School provides a comprehensive standards-based high school program for the adult learner that includes transcripts and an academic diploma. N.A.L.B. High School diploma carries the same recognition as any traditional high school diploma and satisfies the academic requirement for eligibility for title 4 funding (financial aid, FAFSA). Courses are offered in print based format.

All courses, books and assignments are offered at our school. N.A.L.B. courses are to be completed in class, requiring 180 days or 880 hours of completion for those students that qualify. Students required to sit in class will receive a full-time class schedule.

The program is registered by the Illinois State Board of Education within a framework of standards in learning opportunities established by the Illinois State Board of Education. Students must complete 24 academic courses successfully to graduate.

The courses of study are selected from the general categories of English, Math, Science, Social Studies and some electives. The 24 courses are made up from the total of all academic courses that the student completed successfully in their previous high school or high schools (as determined by a review of their official transcripts), and the courses they completed successfully at NALB High School. The minimum number of NALB High School courses required to earn a NALB High School diploma is six.

Requirements for High School Graduation:
Of the 24 courses needed to graduate, whether from a previous high school or from NALB High School, the following basic subjects must be included.

24 Credit College Prep Curriculum 4.0 credits of English = English 101, English 102, English 103, English 104 4.0 credits of Math =Math 1, Math 2, Algebra 1, Algebra , Geometry, Consumer Math. 4.0 credits of Science =Physical Science, Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics. 4.0 credits of Social Studies = American History 1,2, World History, U.S. History 1,2, U.S. Government-Civics 8.0 Elective credits =Health, Literature, Writing, Human Relations, etc.

Additional Requirements
  1. State Law requires that in order to graduate, a student must pass a test on the U.S. and Illinois Constitution, Declaration of Independence and the proper use and display of the American Flag.
Students planning to attend college are encouraged to enroll in either the SAT or ACT prep courses during their sophomore or junior years depending on when they intend to take either of these exams.

A minimum of 24 units of credits is required for graduation for NALB High School. One unit of credit is earned upon completion of a subject. N.A.L.B high school will not accept or transfer in ½ credits.

*NALB High School will grant credit for non-academic courses such as Computer Proficiency, Industrial Drawing, Art and courses that are required such as Physical Education.

D - Below Average 65-74 1
F - Failure 64 or below 0
